The large-scale undervaluation of properties in the Self-Assessment Scheme (SAS) system particularly in relation to properties above 3,000 sq ft the BBMP has undertaken a special drive for reviewing the details submitted by theproperty owners. The commissioner of BBMP has instructed the special team to complete the review process by themonth March. The team will measure those properties which are above 3,000 sq ft both the residential and commercial and re-fix the property tax. The teams will be recovering the deferential amount from the erring property owners. It has also in thought to exempt from penalty those owners who disclose the real facts and pay differential tax amount. Adding further he said, properties that are enjoying civic amenities/ facilities and still not registered under property tax has instructed joint commissioners to evolve a special campaign to enable property owners to pay tax and obtain receipts at the central office.
