Noida GMs raided for links to realtors

The Noida Authority and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) have asked the Uttar Pradesh government to conduct vigilance inquiries against four senior officials whose residences were searched by the Income Tax officials three days ago for alleged links with real estate companies.

Of the four, three are with the GNIDA — Lalit Vikram Basantwani, General Manager (Finance); S S A Rizvi, General Manager (Projects); and, Ravinder Singh, General Manager (Property).

For now, these officials have been told to stay without work and designation till the Income Tax department sends its report to the GNIDA.

The Income Tax suspects that official positions were misused to derive financial benefits.

Akhilesh Singh, Deputy CEO of GNIDA, told Newsline: “We have asked the government to conduct a vigilance inquiry against them. Lalit Vikram came to (office to) mark his presence but the other two have gone on leave. Vikram has now been attached to my office.”

Rizvi, one of the four officials under Income Tax department scrutiny, is due to retire in July.

The Noida Authority official under probe is Rampal Burman. Posted as a senior accounts official, he rejected the Income Tax department’s claim of links with a real estate company.

“I cannot tell you more than this. I have no link with the real estate company that the I-T officials are alleging is mine,” he said.
