The real estate sector proves one of the basic necessities of life — shelter. While the buildings that house countless families are visible, the vision and efforts of those who build them have remained largely unacknowledged. Not anymore.
July 11, 2012 witnessed the launch of a pioneering platform, Realty Gen-Next, a coffee table book by DNA, showcasing the vision, leadership and success of the first generation developers and the successful mentoring of the next generation.
Featuring 12 top builders and 5 luminaries of the sector, it captures their stories and describes how realty brands have been built over years, the metamorphosis that has taken place across Mumbai, serving the aspirations of Mumbai's present and future inhabitants.
The objective was to recognise brands from the real estate sector who have bequeathed success to the next generation, which has also in turn, tasted success. In the past, this was achieved more intuitively.Today, it is being pursued more cogently, with systems in place, and practiced professionalism.
The function witnessed an interesting interface between veteran developers, recent entrants and industry professionals across the spectrum.
Fittingly, the book unveiling was done by a father-son trio spanning two generations, the guests of honour being Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) and promoter of the Essel Group of Companies and his sons Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) and Amit Goenka, CEO, PAN India Network Ltd.
The evening was a glowing tribute to the leaders who have set and further raised the benchmarks for quality, innovation and lifestyle. The concept of two generations working together, shoulder to shoulder, as exemplified in the book was also visible at the function, making it an emotional gathering as well as a memorable one.
It was a truly memorable occasion because the awards presented after the coffee table book release were in essence, raising a toast to Gen-Next, acknowledging the geniuses and entrepreneurs of the past, who continue to make a mark even today, but look with hope and happiness to the efforts of the young.
The unanimous and overwhelming feedback received from all those gathered, was that DNA has conceptualised a unique property, which encapsulates the way certain developers in Mumbai have built reality brands over the years through a more professional approach and with the available technology that prevailed then.
The decision to feature not just prominent developers but also icons of this sector who have played a vital role in their respective fields, be it on home loans, architecture, legal issues and consultancy, was also greatly appreciated.
The awards presentations were interspersed with scintillating entertainment performances by Quick Angels and Silver Strings.
